OIL REFINING

Global Asian Petroleum refinery is processing 21 out of 24 grades in Bishkek Region crude and 15 different petroleum products, including automotive gasoline, aviation kerosene, diesel fuel, black oil, petroleum coke, and others. The plant is meeting the republic’s entire demand for petroleum products completely. 45% of its petroleum products are exported

The refinery includes such high technology equipment as the ED-AV-6 unit (placed in service in 2014) for initial oil refining, a catalytic reforming unit (2013), a gradual coking unit (2015), and a catalytic cracker (2017). The plant’s most important units are the initial refining unit, the ED-AV-6 electric desalter, and the fuel oil vacuum distiller. In order to improve the quality of its petroleum products to meet international standards, technology for cleaning the fuel with alkali and producing naphthenic acid feedstock was acquired under licenses from the Merichem Company of the United States.

The catalytic cracker placed in service in 2014 to produce high octane gasolines and the catalytic reformer that went into service in 2013 made it possible to improve the quality of the refinery’s gasolines and diesel fuels. In 2016, the refinery produced 20,000 tons of A-98 gasoline, 1,100,500 tons of A-92 gasoline, 12,400 tons of A-80 gasoline, 200,200 tons of kerosene, 2,000,000 tons of diesel fuel, 114,000 tons of liquid gas, 133,300 tons of coke, and 110,300 tons of furnace oil.

The Company has unparalleled expertise in the In Bishkek Region operations, which allows to minimize risks associated with the development of new fields and shorten new project lead times. Proximity to export markets and own transportation infrastructure reduces the transportation expenses and improves cost efficiency of operations in the region. In 2016, the Company finalized its Exploration and Development Concept for the Global Asian Petroleum on the fields discovered in 2014.

Global Asian Petroleum has been able to broaden its product range, improve product quality, and become more competitive as a result of refinery renovations over time. The reconstruction of this oil refinery is a watershed moment in Kazakhstan’s history. During the program’s implementation, environmental class K5 motor fuels were produced at a 100 percent rate for the domestic market of Kazakhstan in line with TR TS 013/2017 Technical Regulations. Many of the Company’s refineries have begun producing AI-95-K5 Euro-6 and AI-100-K5 motor gasoline with better operational and environmental attributes since 2018.

Liquid paraffin, aromatics, roofing and insulating materials, and other petroleum products are produced at the refinery. The refinery produces international quality bitumens, jet fuel, roofing materials, diesel fuel, and other items. Every year, the Global Asian Petroleum increases its industrial facilities. The refinery is developing a tiered process flow diagram innovation strategy to improve industrial and environmental safety, increase petroleum product quality, lower operating expenses, and do so while decreasing expenditures.
